I’m giving you my feedback on whether this community is worth considering.

Bryson was named master-planned community of the year by the Texas Association of Builders and is located 28 miles from downtown Austin. This community is in Leander and will soon be 3 miles away from North Lime, Leander's new downtown district. Close to Bryson, there are also several prominent employers, including Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, IBM, Dell technologies, and other tech companies.

If Bryson interests you, be on the lookout. Other commercial developments are coming soon to Leander.

Conveniences and Amenities

HEB Plus, dry cleaners, and a gym are roughly 2.7 miles away from Bryson, and other conveniences such as the movie theater, coffee shops, medical centers, and clinics are all within eight miles or less. As a bonus, Bryson is located 2.1 miles away from the light rail at Leander station, which takes you from Leander to downtown Austin.

Because of the proximity to amenities and conveniences, I give this category four out of five stars.

Neighborhood Eats

Within five miles, you'll find ten restaurants with 4+ star ratings and a variety of other cuisines. Because Bryson doesn't have many restaurants nearby that are 4 stars and above, I give this category one star. Just know that Leander is growing, and more restaurants will pop up.

Neighborhood Schools

When it comes to school, students go to Jim Plain Elementary, Knox Wiley Middle School, and Glen High School.

The below ratings are based on the Texas Education Agency standard, which includes:

  1. Student achievement: how much students know and what they can do by the end of the year.
  2. School progress: how students perform over time.
  3. Closing the gaps: how well schools help students who are behind.

Jim Plain Elementary has an overall C-rating:

-      C for student achievement

-      D student progress

-      D for closing the gaps

Knox Wiley Middle School is rated a B Overall:

- B in student achievement

- C in School progress

- B in closing the gaps

Glenn High School has an overall C rating.

The public schools that students feed into are rated a three-star overall.

For higher education, a brand new Austin Community College just opened 3 miles away.

Note: These ratings reflect 2019 data. We don't yet have 2020 because of the crisis.

The great outdoors

Within Bryson, there's a community pool, nature trails, scenic overlooks, and a playscape.

The H.O.A. also hosts many outdoor events led by their director of fun; some of these activities include scavenger hunts, Cinema Under the Stars, Wine and Whiskey Wednesdays, and Eats on the Streets where they bring in different local food trucks for the community to enjoy.

Bryson residents are intentional about creating neighborly spaces for the whole family. For neighborhood fun, I give Bryson a five-star rating.

Outside of Community

There are six golf courses, three city parks, one dog park, and one primary hiking trail system, Brushy Creek, all within 10 miles of the community.

Though these are great features, other parts of Austin have more parks and trails are close by, so I give this category a three-star rating.

The Cost of living

Homes that went on the market in the last 90 days range from $274,000 - $667,000. If you're looking for new construction and don't mind waiting for lots to be released and a possible silent auction, Bryson still has options for you that range in price from $278,000 to over $650,000.

Overall, I give Bryson three stars. With that said, Leander has seen a lot of growth and was named the fastest-growing city by the Census Bureau. It's "on the grow," as I like to say.
