The data I'll cover will reflect 2019 because 2020 state assessments were put on pause. We’ll closely look at the districts that are considered to be in major suburban areas within Williamson County, Travis County, and Hays county.
Pflugerville ISD
It has an overall B rating. It’s located east of IH-35. There are 25,000 plus students who are served across 30 schools. They live in Pflugerville, Austin, and Round Rock.
Pflugerville has a variety of programs that include AP and career in college readiness, and Austin Community College duel credit programs. The student-teacher ratio is 14:1 and the graduation rate is 97.4%.
Home prices in Pflugerville range from $195,000 to $1.8 million.
Round Rock ISD
It's located near downtown Round Rock and goes north of IH-35. It serves over 50,000 students who live in Austin, Cedar Park, and Round Rock.
There are 55 schools within the district. The student-teacher ratio is 15:1 and the graduation rate is 96.2%.
Home prices in this area range from $184,000 to $2.4 million.
Leander ISD
Located West of 183, South of Highway 29, and North of Highway 71. Leander serves more than 41,000 students across 45 campuses.
Academic achievements range from National Merit scholar winners, Academic UIL State Champions, UIL Marching Band State Champions, and athletic program awards.
The student-teacher ratio is 15:1 and the graduation rate is 98.8%.
Homes in this area range from $185,000 to $12 million.
Austin ISD
It’s located along IH-35 and spreads to the center of downtown. It stretches North towards Round Rock and South towards Buda.
This is the largest school district in the area with 128 schools serving over 80,000 students. Students who attend Austin ISD live in Austin.
The student-teacher ratio is 14:1 and the graduation rate is 94%.
Home prices range from $185,000 to $12 million.
Liberty Hill ISD
It’s located west of Ronald Reagan Boulevard, off of Highway 29. Eight campuses within the district serve over 4,800 students who reside in Georgetown, Leander, and Liberty Hill.
The Students-teacher ratio is 14:1 and the graduation rate is 96.5%. The school's athletic programs are competitive in sports like track and field, cross country, and football.
Liberty Hill offers country living without being too far away from the city, along with some scenic views. Home prices range from $260,000 to $1.4 million.
Lago Vista ISD
It has an A rating. It's located South of 1431, West of 183, and North of Farm Ranch Road 620. Over 1,600 students attend Lago Vista schools across four campuses.
Students who live in Jonestown, Lago Vista, Point Venture feed into Lago Vista ISD. The student-teacher ratio is 15:1 and the graduation rate is 100%.
In Lago, you'll find lots of lake life and outdoor water activities, because this city sits between the Colorado River and Lake Travis which is a reservoir of the Colorado River.
Outdoor adventure is endless and home prices range from $179,000 to over $7 million.
Dripping Springs ISD
A-rated. It's located off of 290, West of IH-35.
There are over 1,600 students in over seven schools who live in Austin, Driftwood, and Dripping Springs. The student-teacher ratio is 16:1 and the graduation rate is 98.2%.
It's known for its rolling hills and views. Home prices range from $189,000 to $5.2 million.
Wimberley ISD
It has an accountability rating of A. It's located West of IH-35 and South of Highway 290. There are over 2,400 students who attend four schools.
It serves students who live in Driftwood and Wimberley. The student-teacher ratio is 14:1 and the graduation rate is 97.4%. Wimberley ISD is a smaller district, and is in a smaller town but has a lot of charm.
Home prices range from $250,000 to $2.6 million.
Lake Travis ISD
It has an A rating and is located off of Highway 71 and West of Mo-Pac. It serves over 11,000 students over 10 campuses who live in Austin, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Spicewood, and the West Lake Hills.
The programs that they offer are courses like career and technical education, Fine Arts and academic enrichment, and the on-ramps, which is a program in partnership with the University of Texas for students to be able to take college coursework, while they're in high school.
The student-teacher ratio is 17:1 and the graduation rate is 94.9%.
Home prices range from $319,000 to $8.9. million.
Eanes ISD
Eanes ISD is an A-rated district located West of Loop One, North of 71 and Highway 290. The district serves more than 8,000 students across nine campuses. The students live in Austin, Rollingwood, and West Lake Hills.
The student-teacher ratio is 15:1 and the graduation rate is 99.2%. The home prices in this area range from $950,000 to $6.7 million.
Eanes ISD is not only known for its academics but also its athletic programs, especially the football program which has won state championships.

Outside of State and National Assessments, you need to look at the parent and student feedback; talk to the faculty and staff at the potential schools you're looking at, and then ask them questions.
When possible, do a school tour. Assessments only tell you so much about a school and its students. Those scores don't reflect the culture and the atmosphere of what schools are truly like.
